~ Neighborhood News ~

The three departing Board members write a goodbye letter to the membership of our HOA. See it here.

Jon Dick writes about "The Little Things" that make a difference.

Cosgrove Creek was recently cleaned around the edges by Calaveras County. They still cannot go into the creek itself and clean out the vegetation until the US Dept. of Fish and Wildlife permits it. In a call to the County 11/18, they acknowledged that they probably will not get this permission this winter. Lets hope for rain, but not too much at one time. See The Valley Springs News, Wed. November 19, 2008.

The Board reminds everyone that the monthly HOA meetings are held on the second Monday of every month with the exception of December (no meeting) and January which is our Annual Meeting. Open forum period at the beginning of each meeting allows members an opportunity to voice their opinions or ask questions. The agenda is posted on this website a week in advance.

Foothill Fire Dept. spoke at the October HOA meeting stating that they will be taking over responsibility of all the fire hydrants in the La Contenta HOA. They will be auditing the hydrants, placing reflector dots in the streets and painting each hydrant. FD has asked the Board to remind all home owners that they are responsible for clearing any vegetation or obstructions to the hydrant. FD will notify home owners if that condition exists.

Supervisor candidates agree that Cosgrove Creek needs immediate attention. Both Cereal McDaniel and Gary Tofanelli said that if elected both would seek immediate action. See Friday, October 10, 2008 edition of in The Valley Springs News. No online link available.

See the La Contenta Golf Club website for plans to clubhouse and course.

  • Board member - 3 openings
  • Architecture Committee - 1 opening
  • Roads Committee - 2 openings
The best way to impact our HOA is by serving. There are a lot of good ideas out there.  Please help.  Contact Us to voice your interest.  Thank you!

Past Board Members: we are looking for any past member that might have the key to our safety deposit box and the filing cabinet that belongs to the Architecture Committee. If you know of either of these please contact us.  Thank you.

The Architecture Committee reminds everyone improvements to our homes and yards need HOA approval prior to start of work regardless of size. Please submit signed forms describing construction.  If unsure, please go to the Contact Us page and drop down "Architecture Committee" and send them a note.  Please, allow 60 days and do not start a yard project without obtaining a written approval from the Committee. Violations will have to be reversed. Thanks to all.

The La Contenta Golf Club has requested the HOA Board of Directors to remind all members and friends of our community that the golf course is restricted to paying golfers only. Recently there has been an increase in non golfers using the golf paths and course from walkers and joggers to bicycles riding on fairways and greens. Please stay off the course unless you are playing a round of golf.  Thank you.

Mail catalogs are a nuisance to many. To remove your name from those you do not want, go to Catalog Choice and follow the instructions.  They will do the rest.

Mailboxes: To obtain a new mailbox or parts for an existing one, please contact ETL in Modesto.  Go to http://www.energytechlabs.com/contacts.html for information or call  1-209-529-3546 .

Cosgrove Creek Update:

August 13, 2008: The Calaveras County Public Works reported today they are trying to get the Dept. of Interior Fish and Wildlife and the Army Corps of Engineers to accept one of two alternatives to full dredging this year. This will allow some clean up and allow water to flow during the upcoming rainy season. Although this is a temporary fix, it will allow the County time to work to a more permanent solution.

December 18, 2007 Edition of the Calaveras Enterprise: Board of Supervisors approve Cosgrove Creek project the #1 on the list that lobbyist The Ferguson Group will take to Washington DC requesting federal dollars for the flood control study.

Highway 26 Safety Alert!
Those of us here in La Contenta know the many sounds of our beautiful area: coyotes, golf swings, turkeys, geese and sirens. Yes, Highway 26 is very dangerous. Vista Del Lago has turn lanes, but St. Andrews does not. Speed is a problem as well as cell phones and gravel trucks. When driving 26, please be careful.  If you observe continuing speeding or hazardous traffic activities issues contact the California Highway Patrol at 911.
